What It Will Be Like

I thought that, instead of sharing a devotion, today I would share a poem I wrote about two years ago. This poem is about Heaven, about eternity, and about how we can know that we are going there. I hope it can be a blessing and that it points you to Christ! If you don’t know Him or know for certain that you will be with God eternally when this life is past, please place your faith in Jesus today, believing in Him and confessing Him as Lord.

What will it be like up there?

Will we all be able to sing and dance?

What will we see on our arrival,

at our very first glance?

Will we be with all our loved ones?

Will they know who we are?

When will all God’s children be there?

I hope that day is not too far.

While there’s a lot that we don’t know,

a lot we can’t fathom about eternity,

there are a few things God has revealed

in His wonderful Word with certainty.

We know Jesus is gonna be there.

He’s gonna wipe away all our tears.

God Himself will be our God

and there will be no more fears.

He will walk with us

and He will be the light!

In the presence of the Son of God,

there will be no more night.

Christ alone is worthy to be praised!

He will redeem this broken earth.

When we are there and are with Him,

we will receive that which is of true worth.

There will be no more death!

No more mourning, crying, or pain.

All because of Jesus, who went to the cross

and for our sins was slain.

He’s gonna make all things new!

Did you hear that? All things new!

All of the old will be gone

and all that remains will be that which is true.

We will worship the Lamb of God.

What a glorious time that will be!

Gathered around the throne and praising forever

He who has set us free.

But there is some sad news

regarding this blessed place.

Not everyone will be there

To behold Christ’s radiant face.

Only those whose names are written

In the Lamb’s Book of Life

will be allowed to enter

this perfect home free of strife.

So I implore you here today

Repent, and turn to God!

Run to Him, be made new,

and by His grace be awed.

Christ beckons you to Himself

and wants you with Him for eternity.

If you will just believe on Him

He will forgive and pardon abundantly.

So while we may have our doubts and questions

about what eternity will be,

my Savior Jesus will be there

and that knowledge is enough for me.

I’ve been ready for that day

since I met God at the age of seven.

So I wanna ask you this important question:

Will you meet me in Heaven?
