Through Him and For Him

“For by him (Jesus) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” Colossians 1:16

Everything was created by Jesus to reflect Jesus, His creative power, His majesty, and to give Him the honor, glory, and praise He deserves. The birds’ singing is a reminder of how we are to sing praises to God. The stars in the night sky display God’s vast, infinite power. The sun shining in the daytime points to the fact that God is light. The moon, shining and reflecting light in the night, is a testament to the fact that the darkness of sin will never overcome the light of God. Everything we see—and even the things we don’t see—was created to reflect and glorify Jesus, and even creation is longing to be redeemed (Rom. 8:22).

If the birds, stars, sun, and moon were created for Jesus and give Him glory, how much more should we? We can know Jesus personally; if you have a relationship with Jesus, the creator of the universe has saved you! We can walk and talk with Jesus; He created us for Himself. You were formed by God and born to give glory to Jesus. Are we living in such a way that others can tell that we know our purpose is to live for and glorify Him?
