Hidden with Christ

Colossians 3:3: For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

This verse speaks of our security in Christ. Look at how carefully it is worded here: our lives are hidden with Christ.

When I hear the word “hidden,” I think about hiding possessions to keep them safe. We hide objects to protect them. For example, when I was growing up and my younger cousins would come to the house for a get-together, I would hide my LEGO sets. I hid them because I knew that if I left them out in the open, they could be broken.

If you are in Christ, then your life is hidden with Him. It is secure. He has tucked you away safely, and you cannot be touched or harmed by the enemy. Oh, you may be tempted, and there will be trials, but that does not change the reality of your position in Christ.

And if we ever doubt the security of our life being hidden with Christ, just look at the next part of this verse: our lives are “hidden with Christ in God.” With Christ in God. Not only is it hidden with Christ, but it is in God.

God is three persons in one—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and every person of the Trinity plays an active role in our salvation. When we come to God, He lives within us through the Holy Spirit, and our life is hidden with Christ in God. We are sealed by the Spirit for the day of redemption, saved by God, and our sins are washed away and forgiven by the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, shed on the cross.

Friend, if you are in Christ, you could not be safer or more secure. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are actively holding you, hiding your life away with Christ in God, until the day when you walk with Him in eternity.
