A Prayer of Identity

Lord,

I am your son, and you are my Father. I am brought into your family, and you have redeemed me by the blood of your Son. I have received your presence, and you dwell in me through the Holy Spirit.

Remind me of who I am in you when I am tempted to doubt. Remind me that I am no longer the old man but a new creation. Remind me that I am no longer a slave to sin but a slave of righteousness. Remind me that I am no longer a stranger or alien, but I have a promised home and inheritance with you in glory.

Father, the enemy tempts me and tries to get me to doubt my identity. He is crafty and cunning, but he is a defeated foe. Remind me of the truth instead of his dark lies.

Remind me that I am saved for your purpose, called for your glory. Remind me that I am not my own, but I am bought with a price. Remind me that I exist not for myself, but to know you and make you known.

God, thank you for the high calling I have been called to. Thank you for continually conforming me to the image of your Son, Jesus. Thank you for making me new, and for the promise that one day, I will be like Him. Thank you for beginning a good work in me and for the guarantee that you will bring it to completion.

Lord, apart from you I am nothing, and I have nothing. But with you, I have everything.

Lord, when I am tempted, doubting, or afraid, remind me of who you are.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen
